The bottom filter is to collect some but not all. I think it might be too much air flow to be strong enough to cause aspiration. Some fine gravel, perhaps? My goal is to reduce the cleaning work, without my gravel or vacuum more often. Hate customizable tank bottom, it's like someone in a hospital room empty. Not convenient. Just clean the drive heads from time to time sure beats breaking the tube. Fluval filters are the best! Instead of buying a hugeFilter, I added another Fluval the same capacity of my existence. They are both out for up to 70gal each filter and work wonderfully! The water is always clear! 1140 Penguin's existing pumps. They pump 300gph. I'm experimenting with different methods of filtering, it was actually my second time to fill the tanks. E 'was really dirty last time, because the turtles kept out of the filter plates. For the dock, I cut a big 'Zoo-med "turtle deck seatingabove the tank, then I tied a piece corkbark, the holes act as a ramp so that it rises and falls with the water. So far I feel pretty good. I need to upgrade the lighting, though. :)
